Entry form/Conditions of entry


All trees supplied are superbly shaped pine trees, the best of the best, the pick of the crop from Mount Gabriel Xmas tree farm.
- CATEGORIES/and GUIDELINES
- KIWIANA: ...and a pukeko in a punga tree. Symbolic décor of the Kiwi iconic Some expression of what it might mean to celebrate Christmas in Aotearoa/New Zealand. (Pine tree provided)
- AVANT GARDE: bark up the wrong Tree. That exists outside the boundary of the ordinary and invites interpretation. Entrants are required to construct the tree itself, and any decorations. Any materials may be used as long as they do not constitute a health hazard or any unreasonable mess.
- RECYCLED: tree trimmings of trash - Tree and decorations will be predominantly fromrecycled materials.Transforming waste into something extraordinary.The ‘tree' MAY be found or constructed, OR a pine treewill be provided if required.
- GADGETREE: treets for geeks.Hyper-tree exhibiting kinetic features - electricity/hydraulics/magnetism/chemical/computational etc. Audience participation encouraged. Entrants are required to construct the tree itself, and any decorations.Any materials may be used as long as they do not constitute a health hazard or any unreasonable mess.
- **PASIFIKA MAORI**: a singular prize will be awarded for the tree entered in any of the above categories that celebrates a maori / pasifika cultural ethos or craft.
- All entrants will create a great vibe in the south end of town for the people by the people! Also, over-all winner will receive $500 cash for the charity of their choice and $500 Backdoor Surf Shop voucher plus double tickets to shows at NZ Fashion week 2011 and Hairline voucher. Each Section winner will receive $200 Backdoor Surf Shop vouchers. People's Choice winner will be awarded a package of ITM Ham 400 tickets, Stephen Marr & Lucy's Powder Room prizes.
- Overall winner of the exhibition will be decided by a judging panel consisting of section judges. Section winners will be judged by an individual section judge. Winners will be announced, and prizes awarded, at the exhibition shindig for artists on Wednesday 15th December at the Meteor at 6.30pm. All entrants will receive 2 complimentary tickets to this event. ‘Peoples Choice' will be judged by the people, for the people - and awarded at closure of exhibition.
- Entry is open to all individuals and any Group, Club, School, Community House, Church, Business etc.
- The entry fee is $20.00 non-students/ $15 students per entry. This is non- refundable. Entry is conditional on receipt of fee.
- All exhibition entries will likely be exhibited at the Meteor, from Tuesday 14th December to Saturday 18th of December. However, the judges and Trees at the Meteor reserve the right to refuse any entry from exhibition.
- All entrants will be required to decorate tree and install fairy lights on Sunday 12 December at the Meteor theater between 12pm and 6pm ( specific times negotiated prior). You may bring a team of no more than 4 people to install/decorate your tree. Check in at desk in theatre, Bridge st rear entrance door , for ‘welcome pack‘ and install info.
- Strings of fairy lights will be given complimentary to each entrant on Sunday 12 December and must be installed - except for entrants in the pasifika/maori section. The fairy lights remain the property of Trees@ Meteor. Artist's own small lights or fairy lights welcome.
- There is no reasonable restriction on size of tree for the avant garde/gadgetree/recycled section, however, transportation and safe assembly on Sunday 12th December is the responsibility of the entrant.
- Any tree may be auctioned on Trade me at artists motivation. Buyer please/must collect from the Meteor theatre Sunday 19th December between 9am to 12 midday or the décor/trees will be forfeited.
- Alternatively, a) The entrant may collect their decor from their tree b) Should the entrant wish to collect their pine tree complete with décor/lights, a koha for lights and tree will be negotiated between artist and Trees at the Meteor before removal. Whether a) or b), All pick-ups from the Meteor theatre must be made on Sunday 20 December between 9am to 12 Midday or the décor/trees will be forfeited.
- The judge's decision will be final. There will be no discussion/correspondence entered into this decision.
- The organizers reserve the right to reproduce the exhibited works for advertising and marketing purposes of any form. There will be no entitlement to royalties or other payment for reproduction.
- Reasonable care will be taken at all times in managing entries. Trees at the Meteor shall not be responsible for loss of or damage to any works, no matter what the cause. By submitting artwork to this exhibition, each artist shall be deemed to have agreed to this condition.
- All entries are to be transacted on the official entry form and payment process as outlined above. Designers may enter as many trees as wished as long as a separate fee and online transaction is made for each entry.
- An Artist's Statement (of not more than 40 words) must accompany all entries. The statement will out line the motivation behind the design.
- Deadline for all entry applications, complete with entry fee, is Monday December 6, 5pm. 2010.
